USCRI Albany has many volunteer opportunities including setting up houses for newcomers, working at the welcome desk in the office, transporting people to their medical appointments, providing support and mentoring to families and young adults.

Refugee and Immigrant Support Services at Emmaus (RISSE) is a community-based organization assisting refugees and newly arrived immigrants in the city of Albany and beyond. RISSE provides after-school tutoring for refugee and immigrant students (grades K-8) and adult English Language classes. The Refugee Welcome Corporation (RWC) The RWC is a community-based organization that assists refugees in the West Hill neighborhood of Albany. Through its community center, RWC provides a range of family services including adult English language classes, tutoring for school students, and community events. Capital Region Refugee Roundtable The Refugee Roundtable is a volunteer network of over 500 individuals and organizational representative in the Capital Region. Their email mailing list provides updates, resources and other information regarding the support of refugees and immigrants in the Capital Region. Meetings are held every two months. Food Pantries for the Capital District
If there is an emergency food need, there are food pantries located throughout the Capital Region that can provide immediate assistance. For information on how you can volunteer in a local food pantry, click here. Literacy Volunteers of Rensselaer County (LVORC) provides free, confidential, one-to-one and small group tutoring in Basic Literacy and in English for speakers of other languages for adults (18 years and older) in the Albany and Troy areas. This volunteer organization trains and places tutors for one-on-one and small group learning. For information on volunteering, click here. Muslim Soup Kitchen Project (MSKP) services are is available refugees, immigrants and any other person in need in the Capital Region.
